Leaving on a Jet Plane

There are really only two things I remember from my dream last night. I swear, they are connected in my brain somehow. I just don't know how.

I had another dream about a bed. But this time, instead of sleeping in it, I was carrying it. A full bed. Through airport security. I made a bet with someone (no idea who) that I could take it through. Once again:
To see your bed in your dream represents your intimate self and discovery of your sexuality.
And on the airport part:
To see a busy airport in your dream signifies the desire for freedom, high ideals, ambition, and hopes. It is an indication that you are approaching a new departure in your life. Some new idea is taking off or is ready to take off. You may be experiencing a new relationship, new career path or new adventure.
I'm pretty sure the definition of bet here has a casino in mind, rather than a "I bet I can do this," "I bet you can't" type of bet. But for the sake of curiosity....
To dream that you are making a bet suggests that you are taking a risk in a relationship or work situation which may not be such a wise choice. Use your judgment and proceed cautiously.
I thought I'd look up other elements of this dream, I'm curious to know if the details I remember actually represent something, or are just there randomly. The airport security was at the bottom of a very long escalator.
To see an escalator in your dream, indicates movement between various levels of consciousness. If you are moving up in the escalator, then it suggests that you are addressing and confronting emotional issues. You are moving through your spiritual journey with great progress and ease. If you are going down the escalator, then it implies repression and descent back into your unconscious. It may be indication of a setback.
The other thing I remember is having a confrontation with someone. I can't remember what she said, but I do remember it was pretty nasty, and all I said after was, "I don't know what to say to that." And that was it.
To dream that you are arguing suggests that you are trying to resolve some internal conflict or some unsettled issue in your waking life. Consider the symbolism of whom you are arguing with and what you are arguing about. How does he or she reflect some person or some aspect of yourself in your waking life?

To dream that someone is being mean to you, suggests that you are being too hard on yourself. You need to give yourself a break. Alternatively, the dream may be a metaphor that you are looking for "meaning" or significance to some life issue.
So not as bizarre as carrying a bed through security, but it was the only other part I remember. I wonder if I should make note that this happened in my childhood home? It seems most of my dreams, or at least the ones I remember, take place there. This time I was in the family room. I recognized it from the wooden beams across the ceiling. I actually forgot they were even there. Anyway, we were in the family room, and doing something, but I can't remember what, and then she left for a date. And I think she was going to a park in Amsterdam? Can't remember exactly where.

This dream actually makes some sense, or at least the second part. The woman I was arguing with is actually someone I know, and I can see how, as the dream dictionary suggests, she represents an aspect of my life. There is a bit of an 'internal struggle', and it's been on my mind, much more in the past week than it's been before. I think in some respects my dreams are beginning to reflect that, or maybe I'm reading into them too much and they are just dreams.

Enter Sandman

I chose the title for this post for 2 reasons. First, because a lot of this dream was me trying to sleep. And second, because two days ago the Yankees won the Pennant and Rivera got the save. Now, on to the dream.

I dreamed about some kind of camp last night, where I was one of the counselors.
To see a counselor or dream that you are one suggests that you are seeking for some support and direction in your life. Pay important attention to what the counselor is saying and/or doing. Your dream is trying to convey a message that you need to think about and possibly act upon.
I didn't recognize where the camp was, but I knew I was in my parents' old home again. Although it didn't look much like it. I was also sharing a room with my sister, and for a good portion of my dream, we were in the bedroom.
To dream that you are in the bedroom signifies aspects of your self that you keep private. It is also indicative of your sexual nature and intimate relations.
Most of the time we were sleeping. Actually, she was sleeping, and I was trying to sleep.
To dream that you are sleeping denotes peace of mind. Alternatively, it may also mean that you are ignorant and not fully aware of the conditions and circumstances around you.

To see others sleeping is often a reflection of yourself and your own unconscious mind. It is indicative of how you may not be alert or informed about a particular situation.

Sleeping may also be synonymous with death in that it beckons renewal and new beginnings.

At one point in the dream, my sister and I were sitting on my parent's bed (in the old house), and a hippo and another animal (I can't remember what it was now. I think a giraffe, but I'm not sure) walk into the room, asking us to do something. That's right, I was talking to animals. I can't remember what it was now they wanted us to do (I think maybe go out?), but when we didn't want to do it, the hippo jumped on the bed, kind of like a dog, and kept begging "please, please!" Also, the hippo resembled more the toy from Hungry Hungry Hippo than it did an actual hippo.
To see a hippopotamus in your dream symbolizes your aggressive nature and your hidden strengths. You have more influence and power than you realize. Alternatively, it indicates that you are being territorial. Perhaps someone is overstepping their boundaries.
More on animals in dreams:
To see animals in your dream, represents your own physical characteristic, primitive desires, and sexual nature, depending on the qualities of the particular animal. Animals symbolizes the untamed and uncivilized aspects of yourself.

To dream that animals can talk, represents superior knowledge. Its message is often some form of wisdom. Alternatively, a talking animal denotes your potential to be all that you can be.

Too bad I can't remember what the hippo was asking me to do, since it is apparently some wise advice.

I've never had dreams in my childhood home growing up, and now it seems many of my dreams are there. Or at least elements of the house are there. It is also possible that I just never noticed it before.

Bullet with Butterfly Wings

Another intriguing dream last night. This is the second time in a week I've had a dream that took place at my parent's old house. That's so unusual for me. Here's the general break down.

To refresh on what seeing your childhood home means...
...to see your childhood home, your hometown, or a home that you previously lived in, indicates your own desires for building a family. It also reflects aspects of yourself that were prominent or developed during the time you lived in that home. You may experience some feelings or unfinished expression of emotions that are now being triggered by a waking situation.
I was waiting for a delivery of flowers. Not a bouquet, but lots of potted flowers. I think this just might be spill-over from the real world, since this is actually what my mom does for a living (except she delivers grass, but essentially it's the same). Nonetheless...
To see colorful flowers in your dream signify kindness, compassion, gentleness, pleasure, beauty, and gain. It is also symbolic of perfection and spirituality.

To dream that you recieve a bouquet of flowers represents respect, approval, admiration, and rewards.
I think what they were describing did not really match what I was seeing, so then I looked up plants:
To see plants in your dream indicate fertility, spiritual development, growth or the potential for growth. Alternatively, the appearance of plants in your dreams reflect your caring and loving nature. In particular, to see indoor plants in your dream suggest that your growth is being hindered or slowed in some way. Your are experiencing a lack of independence. Alternatively, the dream may signify your desire to be closer to nature.
I couldn't find a definition for delivery, so here is what they say about mail:
To dream that you receive mail indicates that you need to communicate or re-establish contact with someone from your present/past. It may also represent messages from your unconscious or intuition.
When the flowers came (actually, when the wrong flowers came - there were really 2 deliveries in this dream), the person delivering the flowers was a neighbor (no one in particular, but I knew she was a neighbor) and riding a bicycle:
To see a bicycle in your dream indicates that you need to devote time to leisurely pursuits and recreation.

To dream of having a good neighbor signifies enjoyment and tranquility at home.
My mom was somewhere in this dream, I think waiting with me for the flowers:
To see your mother in your dream represents the nurturing aspect of your own character.

To dream that you are having a conversation with your mother denotes a matter that has preoccupied your mind and you are not sure how to deal with it in your waking life. It indicates unresolved problems that still need to be worked out with your mother.
When the (correct) flowers were delivered, someone started shooting a machine gun. I suppose the delivery was just a diversion?
To dream that someone is shooting you with a gun suggests that you are experiencing some confrontation in your waking life. You may feel victimized in some situation.
This all took place at my parent's old house, on their old street. But at a different place on the street. The street I grew up on was a big loop, with no outlet. It wasn't quiet a dead end. In the dream, the street was now a dead end, and the house was right at the end of it. I couldn't find anything for dead-end, but this is what they say about seeing a road and street:
To see a road in your dream indicates your sense of direction and pursuit of your goals.

To see a street in your dream symbolizes your life's path. The condition of the street reflects how much control you have over the direction of your life.
So, does a dead-end street mean I have no control of my life?

Dream On

I'd like to thank my sister for waking me up from a very confusing and odd dream last night. Sometimes when I have a strange dream, I find a dream dictionary and see what other people say things in my dream symbolize. Whether they are true or not, I don't really know. But it's still interesting. Makes me feel like I'm not completely crazy. A little, but not completely.

Anyway, last night I had a dream that I was fired from my job.
To dream that you are fired from your job indicates that you are wanting to end some relationship or situation in your waking life. It also suggests that you are repressing what you really desire most.
The person who got me fired was an old friend.
To see friends in your dream signifies aspects of your personality that you have rejected, but are ready to incorporate and acknowledge these rejected aspects of yourself. The relationships you have with those around you are important in learning about yourself.
There was something about email, can't remember what, but there were a lot of emails there.
To dream about email indicates that you need to reach out to people who may not necessarily always physically be around. It could also very well mean that you have been spending too much time in front of the computer and this has carried over into your dreams.
Okay, either of those can be true. I'll admit, my computer is always on.

All of this took place in my parent's old home. I've never had dreams in my parents old home until recently. My sister however has apparently had a lot of dreams in the old house.
...to see your childhood home, your hometown, or a home that you previously lived in, indicates your own desires for building a family. It also reflects aspects of yourself that were prominent or developed during the time you lived in that home. You may experience some feelings or unfinished expression of emotions that are now being triggered by a waking situation.
Not only was it in my parents old house, but it was all in the laundry room. I couldn't find a meaning for just a laundry room (it was all about doing laundry, sorting laundry, etc. And the laundry was just sort of there, so I looked up Laundromat instead).
To dream that you are at a laundromat represents a transformation or cleansing. You are ready to rid yourself of past hurts and looking forward to new changes.
